JW Ligon Association Plans 2012 Association Reunion
We thank our classmate, Brenae Moore Jones, for serving as our liaison on the JW Ligon Association Board. Below are her recent meeting notes that will be discussed at our Sat., April 14 meeting.
March 9, 2012 6:00 pm Sub Committee Meeting
Held at the home of Ms. Carolyn Chippey, 7 in attendance
· Tickets for fish fry are on sale: Saturday, March 24, 2012- noon – 5:00 pm, Kappa House, 750 King Richard Road, Raleigh, NC. Food, Fun, Live Entertainment $15.00. · Thirty-Fourth Annual Reunion Semi-Formal Affair will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012, 8:00 pm to 12:00 Midnight, Raleigh Crabtree Marriott, 4500Marriott Drive, Raleigh, NC , Cash Bar , Hors D’oeuvres and Food Served from 8:00 pm – 10:30 pm. The cost of 2012 Reunion Weekend of Activities will be $80.00 for tickets purchased prior to May 1, 2012. After this date, the ticket cost is $100.00. The cost reflects the increase due to the change of venue and the increased food and entertainment costs. Ticket cost includes dinner, dance, Sunday afternoon social, hospitality suite, and live entertainment. Tickets are now on sale. Only money orders or certified checks made payable to JW Ligon Alumni Association will be accepted. Mail payment to P.O. Box 40475 Raleigh, NC 27604. Contact Brenae Jones for additional information.
o Our Special Hotel Rate is $94.00 + tax, for a standard room. The cut-off date for room reservations is June 15, 2012. After this date, the cost is $119.00 + tax. The call name for room reservation is Code-JWLJWLA.
o Friday, July 6, 2012, Meet and Greet 6:00pm - 12:00pm, Crabtree Marriott Hospitality Suite 615, refreshments and entertainment.
o Sunday, July 8, 2012, Sunday afternoon social, Kappa House, 750 King Richard Road, Raleigh, NC 27610, 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm; food served from 4:00 – 6:00 pm; present ticket from alumni dance or $20.00 per person donation. BYOB
· Class of 1967 is sponsoring a Spring Fling 45th Reunion Fundraiser, Friday, April 27, 2012 Heather Hills Clubhouse, 901 Claymore Drive, Garner, NC 8:00 pm – 1:00 am, featuring Lo-K- Shun Band, Food-Fun-Flavor, Dress to Impress FYI- (919)779-9037, Alicia Adcock, BYOB donation $25.00.
· It was reported that there is a balance of $2,600 in the account from last year’s class reunion. The sub-committee members requested a copy of the financial report. The sub-committee also requested that the J.W. Ligon Jr./Sr. High School Alumni Association have an independent financial audit.
· The Board name has been changed to the J.W. Ligon Jr./Sr. High School Alumni Association, Inc.
· Council Committee is now considered the Sub-Committee

Homegoing for Linda Wright Richardson's Husband
Services for Garland Richardson are Monday, March 19 at Mount Peace Baptist Church, corner of Raleigh Blvd and Martin Luther King Blvd. Visitation is 11:00 AM-12:00 with eulogy starting at 12 noon.
